Respect.

Respects is the act of giving honour, homage, regard, accolade, esteem etc to somebody. High esteem, regard or honour are usually given to unique individuals for their outstanding qualities. Outstanding qualities can be seen as possessing certain values, character, abilities or power to an unusual proportion in comparison to an individual or a group of people. Usually, the discipline and the price paid in nurturing such unusual capabilities is what people normally honour or regard. For example, such power may be legitimate wealth. All over the ages, across all cultures, we all know that it takes many sacrifices, prices to be paid before legitimate wealth can be built and or sustained. These are the reasons for the prsise(s) given to them. Demanding or yearning for respect from people without deserving it is therefore a recipe for laughter. People who are genuely respected in the society are not really moved by it not only because they have given and will continue to give unto the socie...

Eye Sight Part II

Last time we spoke about mentally nearsightedness. A mentally lonsighted individual only pursue distant goals, and plans only for the future. He pondered on opportunities in distant kingdoms, countries and continents. He wants to start at the top. For example, he wants to become number one citizen of his country, even though there are chances for him to become the city local government area council mayor, he pushes that away. He sees, if at all, surrounding opportunities as local and not worth the effort. He overlooks possibilities that are right before him. He sees far of values while the advantages that lie at his feet go unclaimed. He only see the failure of the of the society or the government around him without asking question of how he may be of help and become a blessing. He never consider the likelihood of finding solution to problems that he daily encounters. He blames others for daily challenges that he faces. If such people finally find a solution to such challenges thereby ...

Eye sight.

There are five senses in a man namely: touch, smell, hearing, taste and sight. Each of these senses are carried out by an organ or group of organs in the body. For the sense of sight, it is predominantly the eyes and the brain which interprets what is seen that are involved. Some problem associated with the sense of sights are often associated with the eyes. Some of these health challenges are terminal or permanent and cannot be corrected while science and technology has provided solution to others which are not terminal. Examples of non-terminal, physical eye weakness are: (1) nearsightedness, (2) longsightedness. A nearsighted person can only see close objects but not far or distant objects while a long sighted individual can only see distant images or objects.  According to Helen Keller, she said: awful and to be pitied is the man who have a good sight but the mind that cannot see. It follows that there are men who can be categorized as nearsighted minds and those categorized as...

Gravity.

When I was a toddler whenever I throw a coin on the floor, I have to physically go to the distant location where it was displaced to pick it up. In contrast to this, whenever I throw the same coin upwards, it comes back to me. I wandered why it was not suspended in space! There must be a law which is a forces that draws it back to me I thought. This wonder or law I grow up to know as the forces of gravity. It works irrespective of your awereness or your status. Man has adapted himself to work with this law, large farmland are irrigated via it, the military fire missile to destroy the enemy with its aid etc. In the same vein, there are other laws that are as predictable as the sun rises in the east and set in the west such as business laws, wealth creation laws, health laws, power or war laws, seduction laws, social and love laws, spiritual laws etc. I observe many things about these laws. First, these laws operate regardless of individual. Any of these laws does not favor a Nigerian mo...

Laziness.

It is defined as inactivity resulting from dislike. Dislike is an antipathy towards something or person. It however means that people are active only when a task fit or is congruent to their values, beliefs, or passions. A lazy man in Task A can be hardworking in Task B. The difference between the two tasks is his interests. If you see yourself as lazy in certain task, it is high time you considered the following tidbits: (1) ask yourself what really is causing the dislike; (2) if the task is congruent with your values, ask yourself if there are other ways by which such task could be accomplished; (3) eliminate tasks which you are not passionate about from the planning stage of your goal; (4) don't involve yourself in any goal, movement you are not passionate about; (5) remind yourself consistently that no one is passionate about a task until they are good at it. Hence you must endure the pain of carrying out a task until you are good at it. Laziness is one of the foundation of fai...

Stage fright.

Stage fright can be defined as a sudden fear that incapacitates an individual who is about to give a talk or perform a task before an audience. It is a negative emotional experience in anticipation of failure during the performance of a task before a large group of people. It usually happens to person(s) who is about to perform a task before an audience for the first time. This emotional experience varies in intensity from a person to another. In some people it can manifest itself as a rushing sweat, in others it can be banging knees, heavy legs and shivering arms in others. One thing that is common to all is that it is overcome over time and practice. However, there are differences between overcoming stage fright and sleek presentation. A person may not feel any form of fear before or during a presentation and still won't give perfect presentation at expert's judgments.  Tidbits by which we can overcome stage fright: (1) understand your presentation thoroughly; (2) practice th...

Identifying your goals part I

For everyone who have not Identify their life goals or purpose, the following thoughts or questions may be helpful in knowing it: (1) what are your five most important ideals or values in life? Identifying your values and their degree of importance to you will help you to know which goal means much to you in the long term compared to others. Hence this prevents wastage of valuable resources on tasks or goals that are not important to you; (2) what are your three most important goals? If given 20 to 30 seconds to write down the goals that are worth your resources, the top three goals on your list are usually the once that you should dedicate your life on; (3) what will you do if you won 50 million dollars in lottery?  Two necessities generally drives our commitments and life choices, namely: time and money. The illusion that we have eternity to live or too meager amount of money to live on clouds our judgments on issues and prevents us from critical thinking. Taking money as a case ...

Identifying our goals.

Per adventure we slip into comfort zone that made us to do things that our future selfs will or may not specifically thank us on, such as spending valuable time before the screen (movies, shows, games etc), attending unfruitfull gathering etc. Then it is high time we asked ourselves questions about how we can identify or revive our goals at such moments. Here are some questions to help keep us on track in order to invest our time or other valuable resources wisely: (1) what is good about my life? Most times because we are lucky to be part of great body such as a great jobs at which great people work, we move along with the work or social flow, either at work or out of work, without actually realizing how much value we add to the bottom line. For this reason we compare ourself with those at the for front of change and productivity and chose to do all things like them without actually evaluating our own life. Hence it is beneficial to ask ourselves what is even good or unique about our...

Plan

A plan is a list of activities organized by priority and time. Just as we have archetectural plan, engineers drawings etc which indicates all activities and procedures that needed to be carried out before a facility, structure or engineering equipment or machine can be successfully constructed or built, so also we have plans that must be methodically executed before the goal can be considered as accomplished. The plan organized by importance or priority starts with what is most important and ends with what is list important. The capenters' rule says: measure twice and cut once. Meaning, you must ensure your list of activities is devoid of errors before you start execution. Importance of having a plan are: (1) it minimizes duplication of effort; (2) it reduces or eliminates waste; (3) it ensures that the right quality of goods and services are obtsined; (4) it promotes the goodwill of manufacturers or providers of goods and services; (5) it enhances safety of workers; (6) it reduces...

Goals part II

Setting goals can be likened to road maps of how to get to a particular destination. The journey to this destination may consists of many obstacles, even if the road is a well constructed highway. Such obstacles may include distractions, confusion, road blocks, price to be paid etc. But there are some factors (or lifestyles) when obeyed, that will help in transiting (or navigating) into 'the promise land' or final destination despite of these hindrances. They are: (1) you must develop a burning desire for the accomplishment of your goal that cannot be allayed. This can only be obtained by being crystal clear about what you really want; (2) you must belief in the realization of your goals; (3) write down your goals; (4) itemize and write down all what you will gain from achieving those goals. These benefits are the backbones that will keep you going when the going gets tough. A man can bear any what if he has enough why... Nietzsche; (5) crystallize your starting point against o...

Goals part I

According to Brian Tracy, only 1%of every population knows how to set goals. Equally true is the fact that those 1% are wealthy and more financially independent than the the remaining 99% put together. Then if this is true, there must be some secrets laws, modus operandi or principles that these people has that the remaining population don't have access to. These laws are as follows: (1) The laws of fitness : your goals and your deepest beliefs or conviction must align. For you to be motivated and keep going when the going get tough. Your values and your goals must be congruent. Else you will be discouraged. As it is for individuals so it is for businesses, organizations or nations. (2) Domain of expertise: you should set goals in the areas where it is easy for you to attain victory, greatness or excellence without much help or no help from people. These area of your natural dominance are where your skills should be developed more to perfection. Your area of expertise is mostly are...

Goals.

We spoke previously about elements of critical thinking and one of the point we mentioned was goal(s). It may be easy to predict others predominant thought by the goal they pursue. Goal oriented people evaluate everything they think, say or do in the light of the goals they set for themselves. Virtually everything they think is in favor of how they can accomplish their goals. Goals enrich our life's and makes us healthy or rich or both. Zig Ziglar, a great motivational speaker once said it is high time we stopped being a wandering generality and become a meaningful specific. However with all these shouts for goals and its accomplishments, why is it that many people do not have goals? Here are some reasons: (1) they don't desire or belief in change; (2) they blame other people for events in their lifes; (3) low self esteem can make some people to loose confidence in their capability to change their state; (4) they grow up in environment(s) where goal setting is not taken serious...

Elements of logic.

I would have continued with the systems of reasoning or phylosophy(ies) behind our actions before health challenges I hard truncated the teachings but we thank God for restoring my health, elder noted. At appropriate times I will be bringing them your way as I deam fit. Today we shall summarize the elements of critical thinking. These elements are like building blocks upon which right thinking are built. Anyone who considers and faithfully apply these elements are bound to have wise judgment. It may require efforts, attention to details, time etc to actually do justice to all these elements when used to analyze a particular issue at hand but the result will justify the efforts or investments. Here are the elements : (1) everyone has a purpose or purpose have some people;  (2) everyone has goals and objectives they are trying to achieve, and much is done or embraced even when it is uncomfortable on the journey to hit these objectives; (3) everyone has challenges, that manifest itsel...

Vector part III

The previous time we discursed the first possibility of our goal not been hit. Let continue today with another likelihood. Now, what if the bird flies as it saw an approaching threat? The answer is simply that you will miss the target bird. Another strategy of getting your target therefore is to aim your missile at the place you think the bird will fly to or pass through such that as it flying through the course or immediately it landed on another tree, the missile hit it right there. This can be seen as the best way to kill the bird. In other words, it is a forward thinking mentality or back from the future approach of attacking our goals. One of the best ways that will set our life apart or make it outstanding is to create our life the way we see or want it to be in the future. How will things be in the future, ten or twenty years from today and then transform our life using this picture. It is a foolproof approach in achieving your goals, elder remarked. My little question is, how d...

Vector part II

Good to have you join us again today. While talking allegoricaly on vector, we spoke about how we can focus our throw with the appropriate intensity and direction such that our bird can due of injuries or complications arising thereof from the impact or collision. There are many possibilities that we will miss our target even though we throw throw in the right direction of the bird. An instance of such possibilities is that a strong wind blows of course the stone thrown at the bird or the bird and or the tree branch on which the bird is perched off the course of the yet to arrive missile. In like manner, life consists of many unplanned distractions that may want to prevent us from hitting our target. Such may include: the loss of one's financial backbone, loss of job, divorce, sickness, etc. At such moments it is required that we should not allow it to affect us especially healthwise. This could result when people abandon healthy habits such as eating poorly, giving up exercise, sl...

Vector.

Vector is a scientific word which implies any function which has magnitude and moves in a particular direction. We can explain this using this illustratration. If you must kill a bird perched on a tree branch near your house, you must throw your stone with much intensity in the direction of the bird such the bird will sustain injuries and die from complications arising from it. In life, both intensity and direction matters in obtaining any goal. You must push hard enough at things that matter before you can have results that are significant in contribution to progress before your life can ever garner value for it to be respected. Pushing hard simply means doing all it takes to get or obtain necessary results. There are questions that are waiting to be answered in every profession. There are problems that require solution in all walks of life waiting for people who will be patient enough to pay the sacrifice of providing the solution. Therefore doing all it takes in providing solutions ...

The logical man

It is good to have you join us today. Last time we spoke about logic and itemize various ways by which it is found. Today we want to look at human Logic. This is a system of reasoning that shapes human decisions, actions and behaviors. These are also sets if thoughts upon which value system, ethics, intelligence, beliefs etc are built. Evidences or events supporting such thoughts or system of reasoning may have lived with such individual in question from infants. Sometimes many events or evidences enough to build value system may be lacking but few that exists may be christalized by parents, caretakers or family members. At other times, evidences may be lacking but peers, good or bad, may be the basis of character development. At these tender ages, much role is played by the environment in determining these thoughts.  The school, worship centers, friends, any consistent/continuous human gathering, social media, play significant roles in coloring the information upon which these tho...

Logic

It is a branch of philosophy that analyzes inferences. It is also a system of meanings or reasoning pertaining a certain event or situation. It is a set of beliefs or ideas about how something functions. There are myriads example of logic or system of reasoning pertaining things. We have the logic of science which is how nature works that are documented in books such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Sociology etc. There is a system of reasoning concerning how microorganisms live and function and negatively affects their host called Pathology. There exist a logic to the way human mind works. An established rules to power exists, a logic to war, to peace, to seduction, to holiness, to dominationan, established rule to public speaking and mass persuasion exists, a logic to wealth creation, to poverty, to manipulation, to agape love etc. All these reasoning exists that is as predictable as the sun rises in the east and set in the west. Equally true is the fact that not all logic are the sam...

Alteration

Welcome. Elder instructed me to revise the note I joted the previous day and note the relationship or the allegory. I think you should too. Alteration is the process of changing or modifying something. When you came in the previous day, remarked elder, you were looking for a comfortable seat out of many plastic chairs that were there. Some have broken legs, others were dirty, some do not have backs. But you went and selected the one that was suitable for you. One thing you could not do was to alter or fix instantly those with deformations. However you chose the superior or the best. The different types of plastic chairs symbolizes the emotions. Your options or choices of which of them you want are the thought. You could not manufacture legs, backs, arm rest etc to those that are defective but you could weigh your options/choices and determine the best for yourself.  In the same way, thoughts, emotions and actions (desires) are interrelated but you cannot consciously change or alter...

Judgment part II

Welcome. I went to greet elder on a Sunday evening and met him siting outside shortly after he recoverd from an ailment. Other family members were inside the house. Far to his left hand side were plastic chairs placed on top each other irregularly arranged. So I went for one of them. I tried to remove the one I felt was okay. As I was doing that, I lifted my head and saw another one that was alone, I guess it was used by someone who also came to greet him. I carried this particular one. As I sat down next to him he said, you have done the practical of what I wanted to teach you today being a continuation of where we stopped last time. The plastic chairs, he said were the feelings/emotions, the art of choosing which chair to sit on is the thinking or thoughts while sitting down is the desire fulfilled.  Therefore whenever you have irrational feelings, you should ask yourself the following questions before you end up in actions you may likely regret: (a) the first thing you did when ...

Judgment part 1.

Welcome. Previously, elder told us that the part to great judgment comprises of (1) The understanding or awereness of the guiding principles of objective thinking, (2) The application of this understanding to solve life challenges. Today we shall be considering the first part. Objective thinking occurs in the mind. Since the mind is a gift of God or nature, it suppose to function the same way in all men. But you and I know this is far from the truth. There are instances where an individual function terribly, in this regard, on some issues but greatly under other sets of circumstances or after some years. What changed? To answer this, we need to understand how the foundation of thoughts, the mind, operates that may be responsible for these differences. The mind, elder said, has three functions namely: (a) thinking, (B) feelings, (c) desires (action centre). Each of these functions are intertwined or interdependent. The mind principle number one states that the more you increase one of t...

Judgment.

It is the ability to assess situation(s) or circumstances shrewdly and to draw sound conclusions. The capacity we refer to here is the ability to ask good questions, draw inferences, and conclude based on these premises: simply, the ability to think objectively. Having good judgment elder said, is made of two parts namely: (1) the awereness or understanding of the fundamental principles guiding how to think objectively, (2) how to use this understanding to solve life challenges.  A good judgment hence is having an unhindered flow or cycle from in-depth understanding of issues to strategic planning and execution and then to life improvements (Ie. benefits obtained from good judgment) then back to in-depth understanding of issues. Some stages of this cycle sometimes become a natural outcome of others. For instance, quality financial strategy well implemented will lead to wealth creation. Wealth will naturally encourage bigger and better investment in resources that will aid in -depth...
