Judgment part 1.

Welcome. Previously, elder told us that the part to great judgment comprises of (1) The understanding or awereness of the guiding principles of objective thinking, (2) The application of this understanding to solve life challenges. Today we shall be considering the first part. Objective thinking occurs in the mind. Since the mind is a gift of God or nature, it suppose to function the same way in all men. But you and I know this is far from the truth. There are instances where an individual function terribly, in this regard, on some issues but greatly under other sets of circumstances or after some years. What changed? To answer this, we need to understand how the foundation of thoughts, the mind, operates that may be responsible for these differences. The mind, elder said, has three functions namely: (a) thinking, (B) feelings, (c) desires (action centre). Each of these functions are intertwined or interdependent. The mind principle number one states that the more you increase one of these functions, the more others are unconsciously increased and vise visa. The more you think about a particular thing, person or event, the more feelings you have for such and the more emotion expressed in action (positive or negative) towards them. This equally applies to the remaining two ie. any change in any of them produces equal or parallel change or shift in others. That is why clergy men conducting wedding solemnization often says to intending couples motion produces emotion.
How does this affect objectives thoughts? If you have prejudice(s) towards somebody, that will cloud your thinking and prevent you from seeing premise(s) that should have helped to separates facts from fiction. True, humans are creation of habit, a good man with a track record of great deeds may not likely fall off from his lifestyle suddenly and vice versa. This is the more reason why some investigations are necessary to confirm the validity of an allegation or disprove it.
Apart from these types of exceptions, emotions if not dealt with will prevent us from seeing clearly or making right decisions. That was simply what happened to the example we cited. Initially, as a Young man, he acted on impulse. But as time goes by, he embraced maturity, and never allowed feelings get in the way of clear thinking. Mostly, suppressed subconscious thoughts are responsible for irrational feelings and hence erroneous actions. How do we deal with or correct irrational feelings before they put us in trouble?
(1) explicitly express the feelings you presently have with the correct word;
(2) sincerely state the thought that may have been responsible for these;
(3) juxtapose (place side by side) the present event with the negative historical event that made you develop bad emotion toward an individual, or situation, then ask yourself questions, answer or tell yourself nothing but the truth;
(4) be courageous in doing what is right;
(5) sometimes it may be good to follow gut feeling especially when two or more of your confidant is aware of the event /circumstances;
(6) itemize what the outcome of any action you will take may be in ten months or years.
Here are the tidbits elder gave me in that order. Give me yours in the comment section.
