The manager's arsenal.

The manager is the one who directs, instructs and see to the success of any goal in an organization. He is a leader / member of the management team. One of the basic function of the management team is managing the social impacts and the social responsibilities of the enterprise - Peter Drucker. But to achieve all the essence of the management, the manager must be organized and take care of himself. One of the vital tools by which he can achieve that is by managing his time well. This is because no matter how gifted and talented team members may be, inappropriate use of time may jeopardize all efforts. Here are some nuggets about time management that may be of help: 1) The manager must be adept at managing his time before he can transfer that attribute to his team; 2) He must always ask this question: what is the best use of my time right now; 3) Time must be seen as a non renewable resources which it is; 4) High priority projects must be allocated appropriate time; 5) Reoccurring proje...

Food

Food is edible substance(s) that human eats for growth and or sound health. There are seven basic classes of food namely: dietary fibre, carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, water, minerals. Humans have been advice to take adequate proportion of these classes of food for normal growth and healthy living. Similarly, the mind just as the body needs to be feed for proper functioning. The principal ways of achieving this are through what he sees and hears. What he sees and hears can be via books, webinar, seminars, audiobooks, daily communication(s) etc. Philosophers all over the ages have advice that these media should be controlled. They emphasize that this control, taking reading of books as an example, should be done such that all spheres of human endeavor should be adequately addressed. This includes: 1) peace of mind; 2) health and energy; 3) loving relationships; 4) financial freedom; 5) worthy goals and ideals; 6) self knowledge and self awareness; 7) personal fulfillment.  I...

Respect.

Respects is the act of giving honour, homage, regard, accolade, esteem etc to somebody. High esteem, regard or honour are usually given to unique individuals for their outstanding qualities. Outstanding qualities can be seen as possessing certain values, character, abilities or power to an unusual proportion in comparison to an individual or a group of people. Usually, the discipline and the price paid in nurturing such unusual capabilities is what people normally honour or regard. For example, such power may be legitimate wealth. All over the ages, across all cultures, we all know that it takes many sacrifices, prices to be paid before legitimate wealth can be built and or sustained. These are the reasons for the prsise(s) given to them. Demanding or yearning for respect from people without deserving it is therefore a recipe for laughter. People who are genuely respected in the society are not really moved by it not only because they have given and will continue to give unto the socie...

Eye Sight Part II

Last time we spoke about mentally nearsightedness. A mentally lonsighted individual only pursue distant goals, and plans only for the future. He pondered on opportunities in distant kingdoms, countries and continents. He wants to start at the top. For example, he wants to become number one citizen of his country, even though there are chances for him to become the city local government area council mayor, he pushes that away. He sees, if at all, surrounding opportunities as local and not worth the effort. He overlooks possibilities that are right before him. He sees far of values while the advantages that lie at his feet go unclaimed. He only see the failure of the of the society or the government around him without asking question of how he may be of help and become a blessing. He never consider the likelihood of finding solution to problems that he daily encounters. He blames others for daily challenges that he faces. If such people finally find a solution to such challenges thereby ...

Eye sight.

There are five senses in a man namely: touch, smell, hearing, taste and sight. Each of these senses are carried out by an organ or group of organs in the body. For the sense of sight, it is predominantly the eyes and the brain which interprets what is seen that are involved. Some problem associated with the sense of sights are often associated with the eyes. Some of these health challenges are terminal or permanent and cannot be corrected while science and technology has provided solution to others which are not terminal. Examples of non-terminal, physical eye weakness are: (1) nearsightedness, (2) longsightedness. A nearsighted person can only see close objects but not far or distant objects while a long sighted individual can only see distant images or objects.  According to Helen Keller, she said: awful and to be pitied is the man who have a good sight but the mind that cannot see. It follows that there are men who can be categorized as nearsighted minds and those categorized as...

Gravity.

When I was a toddler whenever I throw a coin on the floor, I have to physically go to the distant location where it was displaced to pick it up. In contrast to this, whenever I throw the same coin upwards, it comes back to me. I wandered why it was not suspended in space! There must be a law which is a forces that draws it back to me I thought. This wonder or law I grow up to know as the forces of gravity. It works irrespective of your awereness or your status. Man has adapted himself to work with this law, large farmland are irrigated via it, the military fire missile to destroy the enemy with its aid etc. In the same vein, there are other laws that are as predictable as the sun rises in the east and set in the west such as business laws, wealth creation laws, health laws, power or war laws, seduction laws, social and love laws, spiritual laws etc. I observe many things about these laws. First, these laws operate regardless of individual. Any of these laws does not favor a Nigerian mo...

Laziness.

It is defined as inactivity resulting from dislike. Dislike is an antipathy towards something or person. It however means that people are active only when a task fit or is congruent to their values, beliefs, or passions. A lazy man in Task A can be hardworking in Task B. The difference between the two tasks is his interests. If you see yourself as lazy in certain task, it is high time you considered the following tidbits: (1) ask yourself what really is causing the dislike; (2) if the task is congruent with your values, ask yourself if there are other ways by which such task could be accomplished; (3) eliminate tasks which you are not passionate about from the planning stage of your goal; (4) don't involve yourself in any goal, movement you are not passionate about; (5) remind yourself consistently that no one is passionate about a task until they are good at it. Hence you must endure the pain of carrying out a task until you are good at it. Laziness is one of the foundation of fai...
