Alteration
Welcome. Elder instructed me to revise the note I joted the previous day and note the relationship or the allegory. I think you should too. Alteration is the process of changing or modifying something. When you came in the previous day, remarked elder, you were looking for a comfortable seat out of many plastic chairs that were there. Some have broken legs, others were dirty, some do not have backs. But you went and selected the one that was suitable for you. One thing you could not do was to alter or fix instantly those with deformations. However you chose the superior or the best.
The different types of plastic chairs symbolizes the emotions. Your options or choices of which of them you want are the thought. You could not manufacture legs, backs, arm rest etc to those that are defective but you could weigh your options/choices and determine the best for yourself.
In the same way, thoughts, emotions and actions (desires) are interrelated but you cannot consciously change or alter emotions or desires (its action). We only have direct access to our thoughts but not to the remaining two. Hence we can only consciously change our thoughts on a particular event(s) / belief(s) before the interdependent emotion/desire can be altered.
It is possible to reason within a point of view that you do not agree with. By doing so you may end up with a changed perspectives concerning such idea or school of thoughts and hence your beliefs. It is until this is done that your emotions and desires concerning such a point of view will start to change. The more you dwell on such thoughts, your beliefs also grows and become conviction. Hence your emotions/desire concerning such event grows to become a burning desire / emotion. It is equally hard to persuade someone with a conviction against his school of thoughts than someone who is just growing or evolving. Hense the reason why you see anyone who is fanatical about a philosophy can enthusiastically go the extra mile for his conviction. Such started by a profound thoughts on the same topic. However, as said earlier it will take much effort and greater thoughts to counter or persuade a fanatical individual than someone whose beliefs is just growing or the one who drift with every wind of change.
Thank you for your time with me today. Do well also to joine next time for a fresh episode. Till then, don't forget to rule your world.
