Gratitude

A synonymous word for gratitude is appreciation. We need to cultivate a deeper sense of appreciation when somebody does something for us. When someone known or unknown render help that saved us from unpalatable situation we need to say thank you. It represent a compound word in a way, whose base word is attitude, the prefixes are the first letters of the two words namely G = Greater, R = Repeat. So if you want somebody to repeat an act of kindness to you or to soeone else in a greater way, you express it by gratitude.
Why are some people ingrates?
(1) Most of them are so used to others doing things for them what they can do for themselves therefore don't acknowledge the value of effort and hard labour;
(2) Some feel their benefactor needs to do more to meet their requirement or the picture they hold about the type of help they expected from them, therefore are a little bit disappointed;
(3) A few of them don't know how or have the skill or cultivated the habit of appreciation from when they were young;
(4) Some belief the world owe them help or a good life. This sorts of people love to partner with evil people such as the terrorists or are terrorists themselves;
(5) Unforseen circumstances: some wanted to appreciate, made effort but due to one reason or the other they could not meet their benefactor to physically express their gratitude. They just feel phone conversation, sms or email is not appropriate for such a big help rendered. To people in this category, I say start your appreciation somewhere, the person who did good for you is not even expecting your gratutude but it will certainly boost his morale of doing more either for you or others. In fact he can instruct you never to worry yourself any longer.
(6) Comparison: if you help two individuals either during different times or at the same ocassion/period, you know or have your yardstick in determining the degree of help each one gets (who gets what). But the beneficiary getting the low percentage may feel belittled or uncomfortable. I will like to announce to him or her who got the less help and feel uncomfortable to reject it next time.
(7) Pride: I can not understand why some people are not proud to accept but are haughty to say thank you.

Food

Food is edible substance(s) that human eats for growth and or sound health. There are seven basic classes of food namely: dietary fibre, carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, water, minerals.
